R&P: G.I. Joe Retaliation Trailer

G.I Joe features some big actors, such as Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson to name a few. Like many other films i have looked at, having big actors that have stared in other big blockbusters helps to attracts bigger audiences as many people will see any film that comes out with there favourite actor in. (for instance, many women are attracted to Channing Tatum so they will want to see this film) the more big name actor that a film has, the larger the potential audience is. The actors can have a big effect on the the success of films

G.I Joe is an action film which conforms to the majority of the conventions of the genre, This means lots of explosions, weapons, and unnecessary action sequences that would just seem ridiculous, all of which are featured within the trailer, this would attract any existing fans of the genre to this particular piece.

G.I Joe is a franchise, there has been a previous films, a popular brand of action figures as well as an animated series, any fans of either product would be automatically attracted to the movie as they can reminisce of the old franchise. The Film is a sequel to a previous G.I Joe movie, meaning that any fans of the previous film would want to see this particular film.

The soundtrack of the trailer starts around the middle, after the main feel and story has been appropriately established, this means that the viewer was able to pick up the majority of the story. This signifies that the story is not a large part of the film, as the trailer gets it out of the way quite early into the trailer, it makes the viewer know that the main attraction of  this film is a collaboration of random violence, elaborate fight scenes and special effects. Although this is quite a well used technique for the action genre, it has not been completely exhausted by the genre, as long as there is some sort of originality to it, a wholesale slaughter film can be entertaining and be very attractive in the tailer.

At the end of the trailer, Bruce Willis , makes an apperance which is supposed to be a funny sort of quip, Bruce willis has starred in many films (e.g Die Hard and Pulp Fiction) this means any fans of Bruce Willis and his darkly comical style of acting would be attracted to this film by this line in particular as it indicates that Bruce Willis will not change his style in this film. This quip is also the final thing said in the trailer, leaving the viewer with the idea that this film will not take itself entirely seriously.

R&P: The Hunger Games trailer

In the beginning of the trailer the audience is introduced to the main character, at the of the
plot  equilibrium. As soon as this equilibrium is set up, it is immediately broken when the main character's sister is chosen to be a tribute in the hunger games, a brutal competition which means almost certain death, this is clear evidence of todorov's theory of narrative, the state of equilibrium, abruptly interrupted and the hero attempts to restore order.

The music is somewhat quiet throughout the majority of the equilibrium, but increases in volume, tempo and intensity as the trailer continues. It abruptly stops as the main character's sister is about to be chosen and replaced by a slow banging of a drum, this builds the tension up to the moment in which the equilibrium of the film is penetrated, after the name is picked and the main character volunteers herself, there is an explosion of sound which signifies the severity of the events which have transpired. after this moment the music keeps a steady, fast tempo, along with the jump cuts of the other events, this shows that the film is somewhat action packed and fast paced, as the audience can get a good idea of what is happening when the trailer is moving so fast. Later in the trailer, when the main character actually enters the Hunger Games, the music stops and is replaced by deathly silence, this is accompanied by a digetic narrative of a count down from five, this is a very effective method of building up the tension of the moment, when the disembodied voice reaches one, there is a large "bang" of many instruments playing at once, so much so that it is not even music, just a loud sound, I personally believe that this is an excellent method of portraying the violence and chaos of the moment, while releasing the previously built up tension.

The trailer ends as the title of the film flashes up, gold atop a black background, with a childish whistle in the background, this gives the film somewhat of an eery, poetic feel to it. All in all I think this trailer is very effective, it is much more lengthy than the average trailer, but it makes up for it by making the entire thing very fast paced, the sound effectively sets up the appropriate mood for the film.

R&P: World War Z Trailer

The main character in the film, "Gerry" played by Brad Pitt with appearances from Mireille
Enos and Daniella Kertesz playing the other main characters in the film. The main character being played by Brad Pitt is one of the main appealing factors of the film as Brad Pitt is a respected actor who has appeared in many good films such as Fight Club and Troy. This will help to attract an audience as Brad Pitts reputation as an action is indisputable and is of a status when he is associated with a film, its very anticipated.

The plot is based around a contagious infection sweeping though the city of New York turning ordinary people into zombies (classic zombie film set up). The film follows Gerry Lane keeping his family safe from the zombies, and although it is not made clear in the trailer, i would assume that Gerry will have something to do with stopping the crisis. This is a typical plot of an action/horror film where something catastrophic happens and the hero has to save the world and their family as they are somehow linked with the disaster. This follows Todorov's narative theory closely, there is a disruption of the equilibrium at the start of the film (the infection breaking out and zombies reeking havoc) and its the role of the main character to stop the crisis. The plot also vaguely conforms to Propp's theory. There is a clearly defined hero, Gerry, and there is the princess, The family of Gerry, and no doubt there will be a villan and a helper, although it is not shown in the trailer, but we can assume this will happen though out the film. The plot does not completely conform to Propp's theory, but it is close enough to say it resembles the theory.

The setting of the trailer changes throughout the trailer, it start off in the streets of New York in a massive traffic jam, which is not uncommon in New York, which helps to make the audience feel calm, showing them is all is well and normal (Equilibrium). The setting then changes to a street full of people freaking out (Upsetting the equillibrium) which immediately grabs the audiences attention and makes them want to continue to watch. The trailer then flashes though different post apocalyptic scenes of the city as well as some shots of military personnel and helicopters. This helps to raise the tempo of the trailer making it more engaging to the audience.
- The costumes of the cast are the kind of thing that the normal civilian living in New York and other character have different designs depending on their role in the film, whether that be a military officer or a zombie, they all have conforming designs of costumes.
- The sound track that is featured in the trailer is varied between non at the start, and a heavy distorted metal sounding guitar that starts in the middle of the trailer and continues to the end. This use of music helps to make the beginning of the trailer seem almost plain and boring and the music that starts half way though the trailer makes it seem really high paced and action packed.

R&P; The Worlds End Trailer

This film is similar to the film 'This Is The End' Firstly the cast, This film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Martin Freeman, who are all famous across the British comedy scene. As well as this this film is the last in a trilogy of different comedy films, with similar casts, gags and with the same director for all 3. All these factors would contribute to the films popularity.

The plot of the film is basically an apocalyptic setting in there old home town in which they have retreated back to from their busy lives, where the world is ending and they are being attacked by robots. Much like many films the plot revolves around a journey - evidently like in 'Shaun of the Dead' to a Pub - And this journey must be completed at all costs - this is a setting used often in the trilogy. The equilibrium shows them at the pub having a good time, drinking even though it seems to just be one person loving it, which adds comic effect to the film. At first its very jovial, however we then get a sense of the dark comedy towards the middle of the trailer, we get a sense that there is skullduggery afoot in the town, when we realise something is wrong in the town that has 'changed' as we see stereotypically creepy stares from the town folk. Then we see the 'robots' starting to attackYou can almost certainly tell this is going to be a black comedy, much like the other films in which many of the gags revolve around death and irony.

We then see the plot thicken and the scenes getting more intense as the trailer moves on we see them fighting off the robots with weapons in true 'shaun of the dead' and 'hot fuzz' fashion. But instead of seeing the plot progress, we just see interesting parts of the film and the pure craziness that entails in this film, such as fighting off hordes of robots and a huge robot and some of the gags including the classic Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fence jumping gag. This would therefore make the audience see the film so they can see all the gags that entail in the film as well as the action, the trailer doesn't give too much of the film away however, which would then make people want to go and see the film

The costumes are all normal clothes, however we see that all out of the group of friends whom are all dressed smartly, we see that the main character played by Simon Pegg in is a lot more casual clothes, so we can infer from this trailer that he is the 'slacker' and different to the rest of the group

The soundtrack which follows this film is similar to the feel of the trailer which gives a very 'crazy' feel as the soundtrack appears to be some sort of noisey fast paced electronic music such as House or Dubstep.

R&P: I Am Legend Trailer

R&P: This Is the End Trailer

The main unique selling point of this film is the large amount of well known celebrities featured, including Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Rhianna ect. Unlike most other films, the celebrities are playing themselves, this adds more of a comical aspect to the film because throughout it, they are constantly poking fun at themselves.

The plot of the film is basically an apocalyptic setting, where the world is ending around the characters and they are forced to take refuge in a barricaded house. The equilibrium is shown at a party with all of the celebrities dancing and doing drugs, they are not done with much seriousness however, as drugs are a relatively serious subject within the media (heroin and cocaine especially) it gives the whole situation more of a jovial air to it. This darkly comical air is replicated later as the large hole appears in the floor, as people are dying there is a comical scene where one of the characters is kicked back into the hole, as death is being treated less seriously than it normally would, it is obvious to see that this film will be a dark comedy.

As the apocalypse comes, the characters have to make plans for fortification and survival, They are shown using duct tape to cover up gaping holes in the wall and their survival rations amount to a small amount of water, beer, narcotics and candy. This seems like something 8 year olds would do when they camp out in their tree house  (minus the beer and drugs) and it makes it even more comical as the characters doing this are grown men. In the apocalyptic genre, this scene of preparing a survival cache and fortifying the perimeter is constantly repeated throughout the genre, supplies generally consist of things like weapons and medical supplies and barricades are generally very strong and sophisticated, this makes the contents of their supply cache and pitiful barricade even more ridiculous.

The music to this trailer is a rap track, which plays throughout the entire trailer, it is relatively laid back and has the undertones of being tough and unfazed. This track would seem very inappropriate if the movie was taking itself seriously, because in the conventional apocalyptic genre the music is generally either very melodramatic or just depressing, the rap music generally makes the viewer believe the film is not taking the mass death particularly seriously. The presence of this track is also completely out of place atop the trailer because it seems like a very tough gangster song and the trailer consists very frequently of  the main characters being cowards and screaming like children, this contrast between the sound and image instils a  greater sense of comedic value to the piece.

As a whole, I believe that this trailer is adequate in portraying the main unique selling points of this film, the quirky twist to a generally morbid genre of films. It also reveals an adequate amount of humour to the audience to make them interested in the film without spoiling some of the main jokes of it. Any conventions within the trailer that have been overplayed by previous films can be excused to the fact that this is a spoof of the genre. There are some similarities between this film and others (e.g The Worlds End, Disaster Movie, Epic Movie ect) but all in all this film is relatively unique

R&P: Audience Profile 3 - Wall-E

Wall-e is one of the disney pixar films, The film is set in the post apocalyptic world, where humans have used up all the planets rescources and left in a huge spacecraft turning it into a huge wasteland filled with their left over rubbish. It follows the story of a robot who's duty it is to clean up, and goes off on his own little adventures. This film would most likely be aimed a kids (3-10) but being pixar, these films are usually aimed at the family as a whole. These are given parts of comedy aswell as the story of an adventure, which is something to be enjoyed by people all ages.
There is no target ethnicity as based on a robot.

R&P: Audience Profile 2 - I Am Legend

I Am Legend. is similar to a Zombie Film, with the use of zombie like creatures who the hero has to fight. this would again attract younger audiences (16-30) due to the violence and the audience that zombie films normally attract. However this film also focuses largely on the post apocalypic world and the drama of the struggle with one man on his own and the battle with his own insanity. This would attract a wider audience, because everybody likes a depressive drama about one mans lone struggle. Because it can be seen as both a drama then a zombie film it would attract both crowds, so a wide audience.

I Am Legend would particularly attract a wider audience because the main character is played by the famous Will Smith, who has been well accomplished actor and musician in the media since the early 90's. This would attract a wide audience because of the wide fan base of Will Smith. One could argue that because Will Smith is a leading black actor he could attract ethic attention of black people.
